New Elders: David Hawk, Marcel Soubayi, and Craig Rekerdres

After months of prayer, vetting, and confirmation from the Lord, the elders believe that the Holy Spirit is preparing these men to become the newest elders at Fellowship Dallas.

David Hawk

David and his wife Debbie have three married children and five grandchildren. Since returning from the mission field of Honduras in 2018, they have been attending Fellowship Dallas, where they have been part of the Acts 2:42 Life group and have taught a course on evangelism. David also attends the Band of Brothers Men’s Bible study group. David has a master’s degree in organizational leadership and is currently leading a team of nearly 100 missionaries in 6 different countries as the Regional Director of World Gospel Mission’s Americas Region. David and Debbie have served as missionaries for 32 years and both grew up as children of missionaries, Debbie in Burundi, Africa, and David in Honduras. They share a passion for mentoring and discipleship, and for seeing Christians express their love for God through service to others.

Craig Rekerdres

Craig and his wife Helen recently celebrated 44 years of marriage and have been members of Fellowship for 16 years. They lead the Lakewood “Digging Deeper” Life Group. Craig is a Dallas native with a career in business insurance. He met Helen at her church in England while working as a broker at Lloyd’s of London. They have three married children and nine grandchildren.

Marcel Soubayi

Marcel and his wife Dawn have been members of Fellowship Dallas since 2010 and have been actively involved in attending and leading a Life Group ever since. Together, they have two grown children and two grandchildren. Marcel has a degree in Biomedical Engineering Technology and attended Bible College in Kolding, Denmark. He has served as both a Deacon and an Elder in a previous church membership and has also been involved in Children’s and Prison Ministry. Dawn has a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and majored in Communication Studies. She has been a spokesperson at a Women’s Retreat and also served in Children’s Ministry. Marcel has also lived in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Switzerland, Denmark, and attended school in Haute-Sovie, France.

Elder Selection Process

Here is an explanation of the process by which elders are selected at Fellowship Dallas. Part of that process includes a 3-week period during which the elders ask for the congregation’s input before they move forward installing these men as elders. The biblical qualifications for elder are found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. Our current elders are Joel Dow (Chairman), David Six, Chris Widell, and Rob Langworthy. Their pictures can be seen near the top of the About Us page on our website.
