After college, I moved to Dallas and began attending Fellowship Bible Church Arapaho, and I began going to Fellowship Bible Church Park Cities when they planted it (now known as Fellowship Dallas!). After a few years of teaching high school math, I moved to Breckenridge, Colorado for a year where I worked part-time for Breckenridge Christian Ministries and part-time in retail. After a year, it was evident that living there was not great for making a living so I returned to Dallas where I got a job as an actuarial assistant at an actuarial firm. While there, I went to SMU where I received my MBA. Also, after more actuarial exams than I want to think about, I became and enrolled actuary.
After 16 years there, I was approached by Fellowship to quit my job, take a pay cut, and become their Finance Director. After agonizing over the decision, I opened the bulletin the next Sunday morning where the title of the sermon was “It’s time for a change.” I looked up at God and said “OK, I think You’re talking to me!” I have been the Finance Director here since December, 1997, and have loved working here doing what God uniquely designed me to do.
My two words are “Supporting Others.” I like supporting co-workers and friends behind the scenes.
I love my job as Finance Director. As you can tell from above, I love working with numbers and love making sure everything “balances” down to the penny! Most of my co-workers would say they would hate doing my job, but I guess that’s why God made each of us with different gifts and passions. I couldn’t do their job either.
