Church Finances

Biblical Basis for Giving

The Bible emphasizes generosity extensively, with over 2,000 verses highlighting the importance of sharing our possessions. Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus used parables to demonstrate that generosity is crucial to our relationship with Him and essential for sharing the love of Christ with others. In Acts, we witness a generous community of believers uniting to meet each other's needs, support their community, and spread the Gospel.

Today, the call to be generous remains unchanged, vital for both our personal growth and our collective mission to bring the Gospel to the world and to our neighbors. While the Church has evolved in many ways over its history, the foundation of our generosity remains constant. These biblical teachings and Jesus' words remind us that our giving reflects our relationship with Him, our commitment to His mission, and our role in spreading the hope of Christ globally.

We are constantly trusting in God’s ever-faithful provision through the generosity of His people at Fellowship Dallas. We invite you to give faithfully, generously, and cheerfully. Remember, it’s not the size of the gift that matters most, it is the heart of the giver. “The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Taking Your Next Step in Generosity

1. Pray & Ask Questions – Any act of generosity should begin with prayer. God knows that our relationships with finances are complex, and He is always ready to show us more about himself and how He provides through our journey in this area of discipleship. Our elders, staff leadership, and Generosity Ministry Leadership Team members are happy to answer any questions you may have.

2. Give Cheerfully – Every gift has an impact. There are several ways you can give at Fellowship. Online, by clicking on the button below. By mailing your check to the church. By using the offering boxes at the front desk or in the back of the worship center. If you are interested in making a non-cash donation such as stocks, etc. please reach out to finance@fellowshipdallas.org.

3. Consider Setting Up Recurring Giving – Stepping into a regular rhythm of giving is easy. You can choose your desired frequency and make changes to your recurring gift at any time.

4. Share Your Story of Generosity – How have you seen God at work in your journey of generosity? Have you been on the receiving end of someone else’s generosity? Share your story by emailing stories@fellowshipdallas.org.

Maybe you’re not able to give financially at this time. Generosity isn’t just about our finances; it’s also about sharing our gifts of time, talents, etc. Pray about an area in which you might be called to serve. You can also email serve@fellowshipdallas.org and we’ll follow up to learn more about your interests and connect you with an open opportunity.

Transparency In Our Current Financials

First, we want to say THANK YOU! to our faithful and generous Lord and those who support the ministries of Fellowship Dallas financially. These ministries to our church, city, and world do not happen without the financial gifts of our congregation. Second, please join us in asking our good and generous God to move in powerful ways to provide all that is needed—spiritually and financially—in our church. Third, if you have not yet taken a step toward giving, ask God to show you what He wants you to give. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference and is pleasing to the Lord.

At Fellowship Dallas, we are committed to being transparent with our finances. That’s why we created this webpage. We update it regularly.

2025/2026 Fiscal Year General Fund Operating Budget

The Elder Board approved a $2,923,000 general fund operating budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, which began on July 1, 2025. This amount is 12% lower than actual total revenue and 16% lower than actual total expenses for the 2024/2025 fiscal year, which ended on June 30, 2025. The reason for a reduced budget amount in this new fiscal year is the need to right-size our staff size and expenses to better align with the current actual size of our congregation and its giving capacity.

Allocation of 2025/2026 Budget

Most Recently Closed Month-End Operating Results as of July 31, 2025

July is typically one of, if not, the lowest giving months of the year. Giving has picked up substantially in August and September, as the following numbers reflect:

Fiscal Year-To-Date General Fund Giving, July 1 – September 7, 2025 (week 10)

July expenses were high due to severance payments related to personnel reductions made in May and June, uneven payment of support for our outreach in India, and required repairs and upgrades to our fire alarm/sprinkler system.

2024/2025 Fiscal Year-End General Fund Operating Results

Budget

• We fell short of our total revenue (giving + rentals + other income) budget by $101K

• We were under budget on total expenses by $74K

Revenue

• Giving = $2.881M

• Other Revenue = $445K

• TOTAL = $3.326M

Expenses

• Ministry = $1.395M

• Support Operations = $2.094M

• TOTAL = $3.489M

Net Operating Deficit = ($163K)

Available Cash Reserves as of 6/30/25 = $1.812M

Due in large part to an incredible giving month in June, we came within almost $100,000 of meeting our $3.3M revenue budget in 2024/2025. And thanks to the personnel and cost-cutting efforts of staff, we spent $74,000 less than our $3.5M expense budget. The net result was a $163,000 operating deficit. That deficit, plus capital and other expenditures not in the general fund budget, brought our available cash reserve down from $2.1M at the beginning of 2024/2025 to $1.8M as of 6/30/25.

We are working on charts and graphs to provide more detail on both the 2025/2026 fiscal year budget and the 2024/2025 results. We will post those on this webpage when they are ready.

Thank you for your interest in our finances! Please pray for God’s wisdom and favor for our elders and staff as they steward our financial and other resources.
